Anastasia Filacouridis Appointed To First W League Match

Welcome to the Westfield W-League – Anastasia Filacouridis

November the 4th will be a day that Anastasia Filacouridis will have firmly marked in her calendar, for that’s the day she will make her debut as an assistant referee on the Westfield W-League on the Newcastle Jets v Sydney FC game, at MacDonald Jones Stadium, Newcastle.

Anastasia’s road to the national stage started here in St. George area with the SGFRA in 2010 where, after completing a Level 4 (new referee) course, she refereed local games.
She very quickly assimilated into the role of a match official and worked her way through the junior ranks.

Through her commitment to seek personal excellence and dedication to work within the SGFRA coaching and education program, Anastasia proved she had the drive, personality and ability to succeed at the higher level of the game.
In 2015 she was elevated into the FNSW referee development panel (RDP) and in the same year was promoted to the FNSW Academy, in its inaugural year.
Anastasia currently officiates in the FNSW Elite Women’s competition through the NSWSLFR, whilst still maintaining her ties to the area, where she made her debut refereeing in the SGFA Men’s Premier League competition in 2016. Quite an achievement!

Apart from the above accomplishments, Anastasia views her participation in the FFA competition, the 2016 Secondary Schools Championship in Western Australia as one her greatest thrills and experiences in her short career to date.
She is also a dedicated member of the SGFRA and endorses the local coaching program, where she helps out by mentoring the younger female referees in the branch.

On her big day, Anastasia carries with her the best wishes and support of all of the members of SGFRA and the hope for many more to follow.

Another SGFRA success story to add to the long list!
