Don’t Cross the Line!

During recent seasons Football NSW have seen alarming increases in ‘sport rage’ at some of our associations.

As a result, we have seen some Associations writing to clubs threatening to halt competitions and some unwarranted media criticism.

It is simply not acceptable that children and young people are exposed to any form of abuse whilst participating in football.

Football NSW are committed to providing more tools and resources to assist our associations and clubs.

As part of this focus, we’ve released a new document “Don’t cross the line” – A guide to providing a safe,  positive and enjoyable football environment for all.

The guide addresses the causes of sport rage and how to reduce, manage and sanction when it occurs.

Football NSW would like to thank those that provided feedback in the development phase of the guide. We appreciate that there is already some great work being done in this area.

Football NSW will be following on from the publication of the guide with a social media campaign to reinforce the messages.

Additionally, we will also look to add some community/association sessions for clubs on dealing with this matter including conflict resolution on the sidelines.

As a united football community in New South Wales, we will work together to stamp out poor behaviour in football, because whilst it’s a game of passion and excitement, we need to make sure we don’t cross the line.
